Our mission
Sydney Anglican Services (SAS) exists to provide the Synod of the Diocese with the corporate capacity to regulate and support the central administration of the affairs of the Diocese under the oversight of the Standing Committee. We mainly do this by providing a range of professional services to the Synod, to other Diocesan organisations and to parishes.
Our Vision
At SAS our vision is to see the purposes and priorities of the Diocese fulfilled in collaboration with others.
Our services
Our services include financial management, corporate secretarial, property oversight, IT and human resources. We also manage the procurement of services from external providers of insurance and investment management.
As part of our function of regulating and supporting the central governance and administration of the the affairs of the Diocese, Sydney Anglican Services shares a common board with Sydney Anglican Loans and SDS Legal, and appoints the members of the Glebe Administration Board.

SAS was initially established to provide services to the Synod, Standing Committee and parishes of the Diocese. This remains an important part of our work. However over time we have extended our service offering to a number of other diocesan organisations including –

Our relationship to the Archbishop
The Archbishop is the Visitor of SAS. Although the Archbishop is not a member of the board, he is entitled to exercise the responsibilities, rights and duties of a visitor established by law. The Archbishop may attend board meetings, request board papers, and may address the board on any pastoral or policy issue concerning the Anglican Church of Australia as it applies to SAS.

SAS is constituted by the Sydney Anglican Services Ordinance 2017.

Note: Prior to 1 January 2025, SAS was known as "Sydney Diocesan Services (SDS)". It also underwent a minor name change in January 2019, from "Sydney Diocesan Secretariat".
