In July 2023, the Archbishop published a brief document outlining his "Purpose and Priorities for the Diocesan Fellowship". This document, underpinned by biblical teaching, recognises that we have an ongoing purposeĀ to make disciples, and identifies a number of ways we are to go about doing so within our broader fellowship, and across the Diocese's various churches, schools and organisations.
This document also provides a number of areas of focus for the subsequent five year period that demonstrate our commitment to this purpose and to continuing growth and improvement. The highest priorities remain:
- the ministry of the word
- prayer
- mobilising and motivating all Sydney Anglicans to be disciple-making disciples
In 2023, the Synod of the Diocese of Sydney welcomed the leadership of the Archbishop as expressed in the "Purpose and Priorities for the Diocesan Fellowship". Synod also called on all churches, schools and organisations prayerfully to consider how they can contribute to the purpose and priorities the Archbishop has articulated.
