The Parish Governance Policy is intended to apply to persons responsible for the financial and property affairs of a parish (including wardens and members of a parish council, and also including a rector in his capacity as a member of a parish council) in the exercise of that responsibility. However, the Policy is not intended to apply to persons responsible for the spiritual welfare of parishes (rectors and other ministers in accordance with licences and authorities from the Archbishop) in their exercise of that responsibility.
The structure and format of the Parish Governance Policy closely follows that of the Diocesan Governance Policy. The Governance Standards applicable to parishes are substantively the same as the Governance Standards applicable to Level A entities which are included in the Diocesan Governance Policy.
