Introduces the Parish Administration Ordinance 2008 and explains the difference between Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 parishes, as well as a notation system in use to refer to the Rules in the schedules.

The Parish Administration Ordinance 2008 (often summarised as the PAO) provides the rules by which parishes in the Diocese are administered.

Schedule 1 or Schedule 2?

The Parish Administration Ordinance 2008 contains two Schedules of rules. A parish is administered by either Schedule1 or Schedule 2 -

Reference notation

Throughout this website, the rules set out in the Schedules to the PAO are referenced using the following notation style:

"rule(s) "  |  Schedule number "S1" or "S2"  |  a colon as separator ":"  |  rule number(s) "x.y".

Some examples:

  • "rule 3.3 in Schedule 1 of the PAO" is denoted as "rule S1:3.3"
  • "rules 3.4 in Schedule1 and 3.3 in Schedule 2 of the PAO" is denoted as "rules S1:3.4 & S2:3.3"
  • "rule 5.1 in both Schedules 1 and 2" is denoted as "rule S1&S2:5.1"
