Information
This page provides information about the governance of Sydney Anglican Indigenous Peoples’ Ministry Committee

The Sydney Anglican Indigenous Peoples’ Ministry Committee (SAIPMC) promotes and facilitates the planting, establishment and support of Indigenous churches and ministries across the Diocese. It also plays a key role in the selection, training, and supporting of Indigenous people to minister primarily to Indigenous churches.

Another important aspect of the work of SAIPMC is the education and awareness of Sydney Anglicans in relation to Indigenous issues. The functions of SAIPMC include giving directions to the Property Trust about the application of the income from the Indigenous Peoples’ Ministry Trust Fund. SAIPMC also elects two Indigenous persons to be members of the Synod.

Membership

The members of the SAIPMC are the Archbishop, who is the President of the Committee, and at least 12 persons appointed by the Archbishop with the approval of the Standing Committee.

Members of SAIPMC must be active Christians and a majority must be Indigenous persons.
